Million Dollar Dog Self-Service Dog Wash

Million Dollar Dog’s Self-Service Dog Wash offers you a place to wash and groom your dog, while keeping the price down and the mess to a minimum!!

A Convenient, Low-Cost Alternative to Bathing at Home or Going to the Groomer
Many pet owners would agree that keeping the family dog clean can be a chore in itself, not to mention the messy clean-up afterwards. When the four-legged family member looks like something the cat dragged in or is trailing an odor reminiscent of yesterday’s garbage, what do you do?

During warmer weather, you could hose your dog off in the back yard with freezing cold water, trying to get him to stay still long enough to scrub on some shampoo, all the while creating mud puddles and ruining the grass.  Then, after that he runs through the mud puddles and rolls in the wet grass – you’re right back where you started!!  With a stinky, dirty dog – soaking wet, to boot!! OR, if you’re feeling extra ambitious, you could wrestle him into the bathtub, make a soggy mess of you, the house, and every towel you own. Then after all that, you could decide to just take him to the groomer, requiring figuring out in advance when to fit it into your crazy schedule, two trips back and forth and an unbudgeted cost. However, there is an easier, lower-cost option that you may not be aware of: The Self-Service Dog Wash.

Self service dog wash businesses have been around for years, primarily in larger cities, but not all pet owners are aware of their existence or benefits. “What exactly IS a dog wash?”, you might ask. Tara Pellegrino, owner of Million Dollar Dog, Inc., a full-service grooming spa in Belmont, North Carolina, explains it simply as “a car wash for dogs”. This service is geared mainly to the ‘Do-It Yourself’ owners and those with larger dogs who want to keep their costs for a squeaky clean dog down.  It is also for those who like their dog bathed in between grooms who may just want to enjoy the bonding experience that ‘bath-time’ can bring!”

Since most dog washes are small, independently-owned businesses, facilities and services will vary from shop to shop. Our facility offers two waist-high grooming tubs with warm water sprayers; waterproof aprons; towels; combs and brushes; high velocity, hand-held air dryers and a choice of pet shampoos. We also offer products to enhance your self-bathing experience such as Milk Baths and Blueberry Facials, as well as the assistance of our professional groomers for teeth brushing, nail trims, or feet, face and ear hair trimming.   Basically, we provide everything you’ll need to keep your VIP (Very Important Pup) smelling fresh and looking great, without all of the hassles and messes of bathing at home, or the expense of the groomer doing it for you.

You are welcome to bring your dog(s) in anytime during our Spa Hours (please see the home page of our website at www.MillionDollarDogInc.com for our hours or call us at 704.266.4137).  No appointment is necessary!!  We look forward to assisting you with your pet care needs!

Volunteers ROCK for the Red Cross

Volunteers ROCK for the Red Cross!!!!!

At 2:30 a.m. Joe gets the call – there’s a house fire in Mt. Holly.  He does what he can to wake himself up, grabs his gear and off he goes.  Joe arrives on the scene and sees the mobile home is completely lost to the fire; nothing can be saved.  While you may think Joe’s gear is a jumpsuit, a helmet and a mask, he’s actually the local American Red Cross volunteer who helps provide temporary shelter, food and—equally important—comfort to a family in shock.

Once the fire department has a house fire under control, they assess the damage and the residents’ ability to meet their immediate and short-term needs.  If it appears a solution is not readily available, there’s only one organization in Gaston County that gets the call for help – your American Red Cross Chapter (located in Gastonia at the corner of Franklin and Oakland).

Trained volunteers on call as part of a Disaster Action Team (DAT) are available 24/7 to help our neighbors after any type of disaster—including house fires, tornadoes and floods.  The Red Cross helps by offering temporary shelter at a local hotel, clothing, food, basic necessities and critical medications that have been lost in the disaster—all from its local financial assistance budget.

Your local Red Cross chapter relies heavily on its “army” of trained volunteers as well as contributions from the community.  The chapter does not receive funds from the state or federal government, nor does it receive financial support from the American National Red Cross to respond to these “small-scale” disasters that so drastically alter the lives of folks in your community.

When you volunteer or donate to the Red Cross, you KNOW you are making a difference for your hometown and neighbors!  Stop by the office or call today: 704-864-2623.

New Textile Business To Revive Old Belmont Mill And Hire 100

Breaking News from the Gaston Gazette

BELMONT — A start-up yarn maker is about to put a new spin on a vacant Belmont mill.

Jo-Mar Spinning has plans hire about 100 people over the next year and invest more than $1 million in the former Helms Plant at 101 Plum St., which closed last year when R.L. Stowe Mills Inc. went out of business.

The Helms Plant, built in 1988, is the most modern of the former Stowe Mills’ locations. The facility will house Jo-Mar’s production and corporate offices.

“Jo-Mar Spinning is excited to come to Belmont and Gaston County,” said Joe Ludlum, location manager for Jo-Mar Spinning. “This represents a new and great beginning for our company.”
