What exactly is a “Carolina Girl?
by: Darryl Warren
If you are from the Carolina’s you know what a “Carolina Girl” is. Of course, Carolinians are born with the instincts to know one when we see one. But, how best to describe a Carolina Girl to others? We asked that question from our readers and here’s what we got.
Debbie Ledford-Kluttz A girl that loves summer, the beach, Sun-Drop, and shaggin with the Chairmen of the Board.
Bergen Taylor Parker Born and raised in Carolina with Southern Charm! A Carolina Girl loves everything about the Carolinas!!
Simone Samson Bratcher A Carolina girl wakes up every morning thanking God for her many blessings, ESPECIALLY for being a Carolina girl!
I think a Carolina Girl is one who was not just born and raised in the south and has southern charm and hospitality but she must also have morals, values and goals. She is family oriented, she is strong in her faith, she is involved in the community, she has an education (or is striving to get her education), she does not need a man to validate her exsistance but if she has one then she is the backbone of the relationship, she always lends a hand when she is able to, she defends not only her family and her friends but also those who would otherwise fall victim…..she is all these things and she does them while wearing heels!
Debbie Ledford-Kluttz A girl that loves summer, the beach, sweet tea, and says “ya’ll”.
Drema Zambory Simonds When she wants to be mean she can say “bless your heart” so sweetly you would think she really meant “bless your heart”
Sean Skidmore My idea of a carolina girl? A girl who can melt and break your heart when ever she wants to,a girl that makes the world go away when it’s her and you.A girl that laughs when the rain falls down. One who breaks your heart if you see her frown.A girl you’d be proud to take her to see your mom, A girl that, when she kisses you it’s like a nuclear bomb. These are but a few things that make My Carolina Girl so fine, but these are a few things that make my Carolina Girl all mine!
Tammie Mullis Kane A girl who dances in the rain because it’s there..Who makes you cry and laugh with one simple story about family.Never leaves your side when you need her and runs into the wind. A passionate lover and friend. The kind you want in your bed when your healthy and by it when your not…Carolina Girls: best in the world.
Susan Watkins Anderson Loves God and the Beach!
Heather Cloninger A true Carolina Girl is a girl that is so beautiful on the inside that she is beautiful on the outside regardless of her physical appearance; a girl who loves being outdoors in the sunshine whether it be the beach or the mountains; a girl who isn’t afraid to dress up, but can throw on some shorts and a tee and go muddin’ with the boys all in the same day.
Rhonda Caldwell Eldridge She loves God, her family, the beach, and the mountains. She loves grits and livermush for breakfast, and tea with her lunch. She respects her elders, and of course exhibits that good ole southern charm and hospitality!
Debbie Rogers Peritz No matter where she goes in life she is always a Carolina Girl…and sometimes she likes her livermush and Sun-Drop for breakfast AND dinner!
She loves to fish, shoot guns and wears tank tops and boots with her dress. She loves her family and her husband and her children are very well taken care of. She loves to cook and keeps her bacon grease for frying other foods in.
Sheila Powell Shields My daughter Lauren is a true Southern Girl. She was born and raised in North Carolina. She loves God, her family, her friends. She has good manners. She loves country music, livermush, grits, biscuits, homemade cherry lemon sundrop and sweet tea. Most of all she has a very kind heart. She helps me without being asked to. Simple acts of kindness. Now that is very southern!
Sheila Powell Shields Oh and in my humble (unbiased of course) opinion, she is absolutely beautiful!
Just like our “Carolina Beach Music” anthem says: “Carolina Girls! BEST in the WORLD! Your so fine, girl your one of a kind, a sweet Carolina Girl.”
So, whenever we think of a “Carolina Girl” it’s not just about beauty (although they are ALL beautiful!) it’s really about the inner beauty. The 12 Carolina Girls in this contest represent a taste that, like our Sun-drop, livermush and beach music, you have to be FROM here to know the true meaning of ”Carolina Girl.”
Thanks General, Danny and Ken and all the guys from the legendary Chairmen of the Board for putting to music what is in every Carolinians heart. And to all the Carolina Girls, you make all the Carolina Guys say WOOOOOOOO!!!
